For its Centenary Tyldesley Swimming Club organised along with other celebrations, a Centenary Dinner
to be held at the Formby Hall, Atherton on the 30th October, 1976. However, due to a fire at Formby Hall the dinner
took place at Aspull Civic Hall. Some of the guests travelled up to 200 miles to attend.
The Club President
Mr. Ernest Chadwick and his wife Jennie headed the table of notables in the swimming world including Mr. Fred Moorhouse, President of Northern Counties ASA; Mr Harry Booth,
Lancashire County ASA; Mr. Reg Way, Bolton and District SWPA; Mr. L Torres, Manchester and District SWPA; Mr. John Cleworth, life
member of Tyldesley Swimming Club; Mrs. A Eckersley, councillor and Mrs. Len Sumner, Wigan's Mayor Elect who presented to the club the Len Sumner Centenary Cup.

Ltd., of Westhoughton catered for 246 people and Waterfields Bakery of Leigh made
a large cake decorated to represent a swimming pool, complete with lane ropes and
goal posts! Each guest received a centenary medallion and a small gift. After the meal the evening continued with dancing
and a raffle, the prizes having been donated by local shops,
businesses and clubs. A grand time was had by all!
110th ANNIVERSARY
On the 10th October 1986 to
celebrate its 110th anniversary, Tyldesley Swimming Club held a dinner dance in
the Sedgley Suite, at the Village Squash Club,
Prestwich. 130 people attended. Guests of Honour being the President of Northern Counties Mr. George Harris and his wife.

To celebrate the Club's 120th Anniversary a Dinner Dance was organised at the Wendover Hotel, Eccles attended by
approx. 230 people. To commemorate the occasion all guests received a boxed Royal Doulton plate with the Tyldesley crest and
a specially designed booklet “The Forgotten Years”. Throughout the week various events took place including a
disco at the Formby Hall which included a buffet, disco and a live band called
The Soul Men.

To celebrate the 125th Anniversary a dinner dance was held at the Rendevous Restaurant, Astley on October
12th. Guest of Honour was Mr. Simon Rothwell President of the Northern
Counties ASA. 171 guests attended the dinner and the ladies received a small
gift.
After the meal the evening continued with a live group "Nostalgia" and a disco by the resident DJ.
Waterfields Bakery of Leigh made a large cake decorated with the club's crest.
Other events that took place during the week were an “It’s a Knockout”
competition against Atherton Swimming Club and a Junior Water Polo Tournament.
130th ANNIVERSARY
The club celebrated its 130th birthday with an an anniversary dinner dance.
Guest speakers Lord Smith of Leigh, Leader of Wigan Borough Council and Jim Wilkes,
President of the ASA North West Region paid tribute to the club in front of 170 guests at the Rendevous in Astley.
Guests were given a booklet called "Times to Remember",
together with a souvenir glass for ladies and miniature bottle of cognac for men.
After the meal the evening continued with entertainment by the Harpers and a disco by the resident DJ.
As part of the celebrations the smaller children had a party at the Botanical
Garden, Hindley and the width and lanes swimmers each held their own "Pirates of
the Caribbean" Night at the pool.
Once again Waterfields Bakery of Leigh made a large cake decorated with the
club's crest.
