Tyldesley Swimming and Water Polo Club held its 36th Annual Mini Gala before honoured guests: Richard and Dawn Daley and Mrs Mavis Bent President of Tyldesley S&WPC. Richard is the Managing Director of Hemsec Ltd and is one of the club’s sponsors.

Club members were divided into two age groups 10 years/under and 8 years/under with many of the youngsters enjoying their first taste of competitive swimming. All swimmers were able to demonstrate their skills to family and friends in backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle over 25 m with the older age group also participating in the 25 m butterfly.

Jessica Sloan scored maximum points in the 8/under girls to collect the top girl award. 2nd  and 3rd places went to Robyn McLean on 11 pts and Hayley Price on 9pts.

The 10/under girls was the closest fought age group; after four races Jessica Sloan and Leah Statham were tied on 17 pts. This required a 4 x 25m IM swim off in which Leah emerged as the top girl. 3rd place went to Jodie Alder on 13 pts.

Alex Ratcliffe and William Lynch both scored 7 points in the 8/under boys age group. As neither swimmer had competed in the 25 m breaststroke, Alex Ratcliffe was declared top boy as he had the better aggregate time for the freestyle and backstroke swims.  3rd place went to Jordan Lee the winner of the 25 m freestyle on 5 pts. Disappointingly there were no competitors in the 8 year boys 25 m breaststroke.

Adam Toone scored maximum points in the 10/under boys to collect a top boy award for the 4th year running. 2nd and 3rd places went to Patrick Rowland on 12 pts James Chadwick on 11 pts.
